Puppy Foundations
Help you understand your puppy, build a strong relationship and establish positive foundations for life together.
Bringing a puppy home is exciting, but it can also come with plenty of questions. From toilet training and puppy biting to settling, socialisation and learning everyday skills. My aim is to help you understand your puppy's needs and develop practical approaches that work for both of you.
My approach focuses on reward-based, welfare-centred training, supporting your puppy's confidence, development and ability to navigate the world at their own pace.
Areas of support may include:
Toilet training and establishing consistent routines.
Puppy biting, mouthing and appropriate play.
Name recognition, engagement and recall foundations.
Loose-lead walking foundations.
Settling, rest and learning to switch off.
Four paws on the floor and polite greetings.
Appropriate socialisation and confidence building.
Enrichment, body language and recognising signs of stress.
Handling and cooperative-care foundations.
What's included?
1. Free 15-minute introductory call
An opportunity to discuss your puppy, ask questions and identify your priorities before we begin.
2. 45-minute initial puppy consultation
An in-depth discussion of your puppy's needs, developmental stage, daily routine and home environment. This also gives me an opportunity to meet your puppy, observe their behaviour and discuss any current challenges.
The consultation will usually take place in person at your home, where appropriate, so we can consider your puppy's environment and routines in context. However, this could also be done remotely if needed.
3. Two 30-minute practical training sessions
We'll work on your chosen priorities through practical, reward-based exercises tailored to your puppy's age, confidence and learning needs. I'll guide you through each exercise so you understand how to teach the skills and support your puppy's progress between sessions.
4. Individualised training plan and written guidance
You'll receive tailored exercises and practical recommendations to help you establish consistent routines, reinforce desirable behaviours and support your puppy's development at home.
5. 45-minute progression review
This will be done at least 1 month after the final practical training session, and we'll review your puppy's progress and identify the next steps to help you continue building their skills, confidence and independence.
Appointments and travel
This package is primarily delivered through in-person consultations and practical training, allowing me to meet your puppy and help you put the recommendations into practice.
Home visits and in-person appointments are available within approximately 10 miles of Gainsborough, subject to suitability and availability. Additional travel charges may apply beyond this area and will be agreed before booking.
Telephone and video consultations may be available where appropriate, particularly when discussing routines, answering questions or providing follow-up guidance.
Is this the right package for my puppy?
Puppy Foundations is suitable for owners who want to establish positive everyday skills, understand their puppy's behaviour and build good habits from the beginning.
Every puppy develops at their own pace, and there is no expectation for them to master everything within a set number of sessions. If your puppy is showing more significant fear, anxiety or behavioural difficulties, we can discuss whether additional behaviour support would be more appropriate.
If you're unsure where to start, we can talk through your needs during your free introductory call.
