Working Together to Support Canine Behaviour

Behavioural difficulties can affect a dog's welfare, their relationship with their household and their ability to cope with everyday life. Veterinary practices are often the first point of contact for owners seeking help, and further behavioural support may be beneficial alongside veterinary care.

Ali & Callie Pet Behaviour Services provides individualised, evidence-informed behaviour support, focusing on understanding the factors contributing to a dog's behaviour and developing practical, welfare-focused strategies tailored to each case.

How We Work Together

Clinical behaviour cases are accepted following the required veterinary referral. Veterinary involvement helps ensure that relevant medical factors are considered and that any health concerns are appropriately investigated.

Following referral and acceptance of the case, I gather further information about the dog's behaviour, history and environment before developing an individualised behaviour and management plan. Depending on the dog's needs, support may include environmental adjustments, enrichment, behaviour-modification strategies and follow-up sessions.

Keeping Your Practice Involved

Collaboration between the veterinary practice and behaviour professional is an important part of supporting the dog's welfare. With appropriate consent, I aim to keep the referring practice informed of relevant findings, progress and any concerns that may require further veterinary input.

I also welcome relevant updates from the veterinary team, particularly where changes in the dog's health, medication or clinical presentation may affect their behavioural support.

Making a Referral

If you have a patient who may benefit from behavioural support, please complete the veterinary referral form below and provide any relevant clinical history or investigation findings.

Each referral is reviewed individually to ensure the case is appropriate for my experience, competence and professional remit. Where further veterinary investigation or specialist support is needed, this will be discussed with the referring practice.
