KS1 / KS2 – Little People, Big Dog Smarts
£60.00
Helping little learners understand dogs and stay safe around them.
Designed for younger children, this engaging and interactive session introduces the basics of dog body language and how to behave safely around dogs. Using age-appropriate images, simple explanations and fun activities, children will learn that dogs communicate in different ways and that understanding their signals can help us treat them with kindness and respect.
Topics covered include:
How dogs communicate through their bodies and facial expressions.
Recognising when a dog may be happy, worried, frightened or uncomfortable.
Why we should give dogs space when they are eating, sleeping or resting.
How to behave safely around familiar and unfamiliar dogs.
What to do if an unfamiliar dog approaches them.
The session is designed to help children develop confidence around dogs while understanding the importance of respecting their boundaries. Content can be adapted to suit the age and needs of the group, with interactive activities to help reinforce key messages.
With experience lecturing at college level, I have taught both classroom-based theory and practical sessions involving a range of animal species. I also have experience delivering public talks to diverse audiences through my work as a biologist at an aquarium, including adapting sessions to support groups with special educational needs (SEN).
I offer engaging, accessible and evidence-informed talks, training sessions and educational presentations tailored to the needs of your audience. Whether you're looking for specialist input for students, professional development for animal care teams or educational sessions for community groups, content can be adapted to suit different ages, abilities and levels of experience.
I hold a DBS check and am happy to discuss your requirements to develop a session that meets your needs.
